Bachelor's and Associate's in Paralegal

The Paralegal program will definitely prepare students to enter the legal field as a legal assistant or paralegal. The program will teach future paralegals the techniques needed to research legal issues, draft legal documents, prepare pleadings, summarize documents, organize trial notebooks and interview clients.

You will also learn about contracts during the program. Various areas of contract law are taught, including formation and breach of contracts, as well as remedies for breach of contracts. Furthermore, estate planning and taxes, wills, trusts, joint tenancy and judicial determination or death are covered.

In addition, family law and criminal law also are covered by the program. The specialties of family law include guardianship and community property, custody, adoption, separation and divorce. In criminal law, students acquire learning that expands on common law, statutory crimes and punishment, classification of crimes, principles of liability defenses, and basic criminal procedure concepts, and they make it their job to define them with precision.
