Paralegal

Under the supervision of a qualified attorney Legal Assistants and Paralegals will carry out office duties such as conducting interviews, organizing legal documents, research and depositions as well as attending depositions, court hearings and possibly even trials. Legal Assistants and Paralegals, just as with any non-lawyers, are not allowed to practice law without a license of course. To explain, this statement means that they are not permitted to take part in any activities such as providing legal advice, providing representation of the client in court, setting a fee, or accepting a case as their own.

The program's number one goal is to provide graduates with the substantive legal knowledge and skills that are necessary for entry-level positions in the legal profession. The program purposely looks to give students the knowledge and know how to work in law as Legal Assistants and Paralegals. Furthermore, the program offers the students the ability to comprehend the rules regarding professional conduct of lawyers and their relationship with paralegals and legal assistance, where ethics are enforced. In addition, students are instilled with an understanding of the promising role of the Legal Assistants and Paralegal in increasing the deliverance of legal services. The program is also very much devoted to allowing you to carry on further into the field as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal profession and continue to work in and serve the legal community by examining and maintaining the coursework and tasks and staying on top of today's newest information.
