College of the Canyons

The Paralegal Studies Program at College of the Canyons is meant to furnish the student with the knowledge and skills required to enter the legal field as an entry-level paralegal. To accomplish this, the program has established 6 main goals:

  • To provide pupils with a comprehension of the U.S. legal industry and the part the paralegal plays in it.
  • The purpose is to educate, train, and provide students with the legal theoretical background needed to perform paralegal tasks in substantive areas of law and legal specialties.
  • To educate and to give training to the students in areas of procedural law, thus giving importance to the paralegal's role in litigation, mediation and arbitration.
  • We instruct students in crucial paralegal skills like: investigation, legal research, interviewing, written and also communications
  • Students are educated to serve the legal system and the public ethically.
  • To prepare students who will advance the professionalism of the paralegal field.
