Fresno City College

The Fresno City College Paralegal Studies Program is a challenging and vigorous program that caters to the individual attracted to working in the legal field and becoming a paralegal. Projections of substantial opportunity in the paralegal field are supported by current survey research. Paralegals find employment in a assortment of legal settings including:

  • attorney's offices
  • government agencies
  • large corporations
  • legal aid facilities, etc.

The option to choose both a Certificate of Achievement, and an Associate of Science degree, is provided by this program.

The 37 unit program is composed of a common core curriculum of 31 units plus an additional 6 elective units. Upon completion of the program, graduates are qualified as a paralegal as defined under Section 6450 of the Business and Professions Code. In this program, the faculty teaching these courses are attorneys or practicing paralegals. Learning skills and up-to-date law office technology are both focused on by the curriculum. A student must complete a 300 hour internship in order to successfully complete this program. This internship will provide the student with valuable hands on experience in a local law office.

Student Paralegal Association

The Student Paralegal Association (SPA) is a campus club whose members are paralegal students. This is among the biggest and busiest organizations for students at FCC. The organization carries out a number of both social and education activities during the school year. It also creates and publishes a newsletter that is distributed to paralegal students on a periodic basis.
