- Introduction to Paralegal Studies: A brief outline of the paralegal role. Basics of business, civil, criminal, administrative law and the court system as well. Legal terminology and ethics of legal profession are the areas where emphasis is placed. Guiding the paralegal professionals who are focusing on real-life ethical situations;spons Legal Ethics Rules,regulations and responsibilities.
- Legal Research and Computer Applications: Introduction to legal research from the perspective of the paralegalís role in a law office including surveys of the principle law books and other materials used for legal research places emphasis on legal authority and on computer-assisted research. Legal authority and computer-assisted research are emphasized.
- Beginning with the first two courses in the program, Civil Litigation and Procedures, students are inducted into the study of civil litigation. Provides an overview of the litigation process and the function of the paralegal in the process. In the preliminary stages of litigation,rules of the procedure will be applied to draft complaints, motions, answers and other legal documents.
- Law Office Policies, Procedures and Ethics: Covers all aspects of law office policies, procedures and ethics as they relate to the paralegal profession. Using application software, law office timekeeping, fee arrangements, and calendering will be studied.
- Legal Terminology: This will include items such as legal words with their definitions, synonyms, proper pronunciations and usage. Legal Terminology Introduction to legal words, definitions, synonyms, pronunciation and usage.To prepare for the use of legal terms in legal writing, memoranda of law, legal documents and briefs as well as verbal communication with judges, lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants in the legal profession.
- Legal Analysis and Writing: Learn methods for analyzing judicial opinions as well as the application of legal precedents to current controversies and the proper formats for various legal documents, primarily pleadings.
- The Internship Project provides the necessary skills for acquiring permanent employment in the law profession. Students will have to write a report contrasting theoretical considerations with practical applications.
