Saint Mary's College is recognized nationally as a standard four-year college and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and also by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

The Montessori program is approved by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education, the Intercollegiate Nursing Program by the California Board of Registered Nursing and the National League for Nursing, and the B.A. for Law Studies/Paralegal Certificate studies that are provided by the American Bar Association through their School of Extended Education.

The Hearst Art Gallery has received accreditation from the American Association of Museums. Director of the Law Studies Program: The Director of the Law Studies Program arranges instructional and curricular features of the Extended Education Paralegal Certificate Program and the undergraduate Law Studies Program. The directors work involves initiation of recommendations for appointment of faculty, their training, orientation, assignment, and retention, academic review of study materials, developing and revising curriculum as well as other learning resources, carrying out administrative work related to curriculum and instruction, and taking part in formulation of academic policy.
