University of Hartford
Become a paralegal specialist at University of Hartford
Approved by the American Bar Association, the College of Arts and Sciences now offers a Paralegal Studies Program. The program, which began at Hartford College for Women in 1974, was the first legal training program for paralegals in the state of Connecticut. This program provides thorough training in legal specialty courses, providing preparation for one of the most in demand careers in this country.
Paralegals are guided under the watchful eye of an attorney in their respective field. Their duties are a wide variety of legal tasks like drafting legal documents, helping in civil or criminal trial preparation or conducting legal research and investigations. Their efforts allow the supervising attorneys to fulfill their client's needs more effectively and to work more efficiently with more complicated problems that demand their legal knowledge. Students wishing to pursue a career in the field of paralegal enjoy several enrollment selections. Degree options from the College of Arts and Sciences include: Associate in Science in Paralegal Studies, Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies, and a Paralegal Certificate. Students have the choice of these options, depending on their own needs and career goals. The Paralegal Studies program does not prepare students for law school as it is not intended to do so.
