Santa Fe Community College
Gain a successful career in the paralegal field
Santa Fe Community College has a 64 credit program to help people earn and Associate of Applied Science degree in Legal Assisting; this program is arranged to train students to work as legal assistants, or paralegals, in a number of different settings, such as law offices, court houses, and state agencies. Students are educated in many areas of law as well as legal research and general office skills.
Because of decreased offerings over the summer period, or other circumstances, some adjustments may prove necessary and students therefore should adhere closely to this sample sequence. Additional minimum employment history requirements are not necessary in order for program graduates to take the Certified Legal Assistant Exam sponsored by the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA, June 1996 criteria). Students achieving this degree are also qualified to receive the Legal Office Management Certificate. Each semester, students are encouraged to take advantage of SFCC's Business Programs Advisor to make sure that they are making significant progress towards their degree.
