Paralegal: The American Bar Association gives the definition of paralegal or legal assistant as someone qualified by education, training, or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, government agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.

This program is intended to prepare graduates who will become exceptional paralegals. Graduates should encompass a broad knowledge covering several areas of law together with specific legal skills that will eventually enhance their role as non-lawyers in delivering legal services. They must demonstrate a high regard for ethical behavior, professional responsibility, and confidentiality. While they may not provide legal services directly to the public, they will work side by side with attorneys to provide the best legal representation possible.

  • To Provide students with versatile knowledge in the law
  • To Teach students the practical skills of applying legal theory to their work
  • To Strengthen the students' proficiency so they can an asset to the lawyers in the delivery of legal services
  • Developing student analytical, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills
  • To train students to carry out legal research and perform other fact finding techniques
  • To enhance the students writing skills and bring them up to the standards of the legal profession
  • Instill the importance of their role within the students mind, and make them realize that there are serious consequences for practicing law with out a legal license to do so
  • To promote the value of ethical behavior, professional responsibility, and confidentiality
