The two-year evening curriculum of the Paralegal Program prepares students to follow and perform under attorney supervision the law functions generally undertaken by an attorney or trained legal secretary. This program is both recognized at the national level and approved by the ABA (American Bar Association).

The combination of legal theory, principles, procedures, practical applications, and production of legal documents is included in the curriculum. A Paralegal is also known as a legal assistant, he/she helps in submitting legal services by accomplishing difficult tasks that are vital to the many facets of maintaining any law practice.

The following are the responsibility of a paralegal:

  • Interviewing and assisting clients
  • Implementing legal procedures
  • Performing investigative functions
  • Conducting legal research
  • Preparing instruments and documents
  • Assisting in judicial and administrative appearances
  • Completing client projects
  • Coordinating office functions

As a professional and successful paralegal you will be above average in oral and written communication skills, ability to think logically and to organize large amounts of data, have the analytical ability and are detail oriented and to assume responsibility and to work accurately with minimal supervision. A paralegal must be able to handle multiple projects perform complex and routine tasks. They must have the desire to be concerned for people and desire to assist them. The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines are a must. Certified Legal assistants have the work experience and additional educational requirements. Graduates are eligible to sit for national certification tests for both Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) designed and administered by the National Association of Legal Assistants, and the Registered Paralegal (RP) designation administered by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. These designations are a sign of competence in the field and may enhance employment or advancement opportunities, although certification is not a requirement at this time.
