Become a paralegal specialist at MacCormac College

The students graduating out of MacCormac College will be able to acquire Paralegal skills and are employed by law firms, corporations, financial institutions, and government agencies and they may be able to work under the supervision of attorneys with responsibilities in the preparation of pleadings, interviewing clients, researching legal problems, drafting documents such as simple wills and trusts, and helping attorneys. MacCormac became the first college in Illinois to offer a Paralegal Studies Major in 1973.

There are certain outcomes expected from the Paralegal Learning program. Graduates of the Paralegal program are trained to do the following:

  • Communicate with clients, office associates and court officials using legal terminology
  • Orally communicate issues having to do with legal cases
  • Do research of complicated legal issues involved with legal cases
  • Work with a legal team to prepare for trials
  • Use the latest technology necessary for legal research
  • Be aware of ethical issues involved in law practices
