Enroll at Southwestern Illinois College Paralegal Program
The Paralegal program at Southwestern Illinois College has been designed to provide students with a working knowledge of many different aspects of law that will prepare them for a quality career within varying areas of the legal profession such as a law firm, government agency or insurance company. A number of students already have careers in law and take Paralegal studies classes to learn more. Specialized training is required by other students to use in their current positions. These students would like to widen their career options at their current workplace and to complement the previous on-the-job experience they have gained.
Although many pupils use the program to help them qualify for jobs, others prefer to combine their degree with other schooling in order to widen their career possibilities. Distance learning is the mode of education utilized by Southwestern's Paralegal Studies program. From Belleville Campus to Granite City and Red Bud campuses are where the courses are broadcast from.
Southwestern has an articulation agreement with Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and Maryville and Webster Universities in St. Even allowing students to enroll in and enter the bachelor's degree program in paralegal studies as a junior.
The instructors in our Paralegal Studies program courses are practicing attorneys. For students intending to apply to law school, it is recommended that they pursue a bachelor's degree along with courses in disciplines requiring critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of technology, and math and accounting skills. Before even being admitted, an applicant must complete the LSAT, or Law School Admissions Test.
