The paralegal program at Hutchinson Community College ensures that its graduates are prepared for professional law related work in legal firms. Paralegals may also work for:

  • banks
  • real estate development
  • and insurance companies
  • or federal, state, and local governments

This program develops the paralegal, a professional who, while not a lawyer, can assume specific responsibilities under the supervision of a lawyer. perform several of the same tasks as lawyers; they just aren't allowed to perform those tasks considered to be practice of law. Evening and online sections of the professional law courses are available. The National Association of Legal Assistants certification can be sought after graduation.

Students who want to enter paralegal profession just after graduating from HCC should go for Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree. This program does not act as a foundation for students who wish to transfer to universities for further education.
