You will be working under the direction of a licensed attorney performing all duties except dispensing advice of a legal nature. You will prepare documents, witnesses, and evidence for legal proceedings, as well as represent clients at administrative hearings when needed.

Frederick Community College offers students two alternatives:

  • Certificate Paralegal Studies: A more concentrated curriculum is offered with 33 credits of law-related courses with a paralegal studies certificate.
  • Associates in Applied Science Degree, Paralegal Studies: You will attend general education courses along with specific legal courses to gain a variety of skills and knowledge. Preparing you for a good job in the legal field is the main goal of the associate degree in applied science, and it will transfer to a four-year college so you can pursue your bachelor's degree.
