Find a job as a paralegal professional

This curriculum is intended for those who are wanting to pursue a career in law offices as a paraprofessional. Legal secretaries who are currently employed in attorneys' offices, and who are looking to improve their skills for career advancement, will also benefit from the program.

A legal assistant is a qualified specialist who can supervise the operation of a law office, standing in for a practicing attorney of routine sections of cases that require knowledge of the legal process, and assisting the attorney with management of complicated legal problems. The legal assistant further facilitates the lawyer in legal analysis and in the format and development of new programs, techniques, employment, and procedures for the law office. With the help of selection, compilation, and use of technical information from various legal references, the legal assistant can interpret and also prepare legal documents and analyze procedural intricacies.

The A.A.S. is only given after students have completed all requirements for the curriculum. While part-time students should talk to their advisors, a suggested course order for full-time students is given below.
