Some qualities that a paralegal must have include being intelligent, having logical and analytical minds, possessing organizational skills, and paying attention to detail. Unless specifically allowed by law, paralegals are not allowed to offer legal services directly to the public. Paralegals are critical to the legal team, as long as they're working under the supervision of an attorney. Some tasks that they perform are: research and writing, using computers to collect information, investigating cases, interviewing witness, creating drafts of pleadings, preparing for trials and providing litigation support, creating drafts of contracts and real estate forms, managing estates and guardianships, generating applications for intellectual property, using computers to create bankruptcy schedules, and preparing tax returns.
Features of our program include an emphasis on critical thinking, methods of communicating, and experience with skills necessary for a paralegal. We offer a large variety of specialty classes in numerous legal areas. We also offer chances for students to gain hands-on experience through internships, clinics, and cooperative work programs.
