What could be more exciting, challenging and personally rewarding than a career in law? One of the newest and fastest-growing career fields today is the paralegal profession. The combination of liberal arts and professional applications result in two tracks of preparation, and competency for challenging careers in a variety of environments.
By adding a paralegal minor, a student with a different major can also earn a Certificate of Advanced Paralegal Studies. Another key component of the associate's and bachelor's degrees in paralegal and legal studies is the ABA-approved Certificate of Advanced Paralegal Studies.
The Department of Paralegal and Legal Studies
This Department aims to teach students on how to assist supervising attorneys by doing the delegated legal work, which also enhances delivery of legal services in both public and private sectors.
Pupils at Elms are trained to excel through a program that involves: knowledge of the legal profession and the ethics involved; using critical thinking skills to for solid judgments with a firm basis; communicating effectively through speech, interpersonal contact, and writing; developing technological skills necessary for doing research on the internet; studying specific legal areas; and committing themselves to continue to grow professionally.
