Henry Ford Community College
Find a job as a paralegal professional
The Legal Assistant program at Henry Ford Community College is designed to provide students with the foundation they need to pursue careers in the legal profession. As a legal assistant, students will be responsible for necessary legal support work including conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, interviewing clients and witnesses, interfacing with courts and administrative agencies, and applying technical information. Once they have completed the program, graduates may seek employment as paralegals or transfer to a four-year college or university. The graduates might choose to enter the workforce as Legal Assistants or Paralegals or they may choose to continue their education by transferring to a four-year baccalaureate-degree institution once they complete their program.
Working under the guidance of an attorney is mandatory for Legal Assistants/Paralegals. They are not lawyers and can not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law.
