This program is American Bar Association-accredited. Oakland Community College dedicatedly prepares qualified paraprofessionals to serve the legal profession.
Paralegals, or those also known as Paralegal Assistants and Legal Aides, work in close proximity with attorneys to give assistance in:
- Doing research
- The filing of documents with courts and agencies
- Trial documents and evidence organization, and helping to get witnesses prepared
- Giving assistance at trials
Graduates of the Paralegal Two Year Degree Program earn an Associate in Applied Science degree. Students are required to take 62 credits in English, business, computers, and paralegal studies. One year is the time required to complete the Paralegal Post-Baccalaureate Degree Professional Certificate Program. In order to qualify, a student must complete:
- 32 credits of the major program requirements
- Earn a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution
