Paralegal professionals are respected and vital members of today's legal teams, and by taking a lot of the workload from the shoulder of licensed attorneys, give them more time to focus on the more demanding specialized tasks they are qualified to undertake. Legal assistants are welcomed by the legal departments of banks, insurance companies, real estate firms, government agencies and health care facilities.
Learners will:
- Show a high degree of competence in providing legal assistance, under the direction of an attorney, in such tasks as collating and summarizing evidence in trials, interviewing clients, gathering, researching and investigating facts, researching titles, maintaining the schedule of cases and preparing documents for the setting up of corporations
- Develop the knowledge and the skills needed to pursue employment as a paralegal working in the legal departments of real estate offices, health care facilities, government agencies, insurance companies and public and private companies.
