The Paralegal Studies Associate of Science course is intended to provide students with a foundation in technical skills and academic knowledge that will enable you to successfully develop your career as a paralegal. The program covers a wide range of relevant paralegal topics, including, but not restricted to, traditional legal research, communications, and courses in computer and business studies. The paralegal training offer by McIntosh is supplemented by the Westlaw computerized legal research service, which provides our student with an advantage over other courses.
The educational objectives of our Paralegal Studies program are:
- To develop a high degree of competence in the core areas, primarily in substantive law
- To develop the ability to index information, and prioritize legal issues and other matters
- To enable students to produce drafts of basic legal proceedings and documents
- To develop an ability to carry out basic research into legal issues
- To develop a good understanding of legal terminology and its proper use
- To understand the legal system and standard court procedures
- To prepare for the CLA Exam
