The Paralegal Studies Program has been approved by the American Bar Association, and provides students with the ideal preparation for immediate employment as a legal assistant to a qualified lawyer in a law firm, government office or the legal department of any private concern. This program can be transferred to Rutgers University's Liberal Studies bachelor's degree Program, which is offered by the New Jersey Communiversity, or transferred to any other select Batchelor's Degree program.
Paralegal opportunities
The program is designed to train legal assistants or Paralegals, who are not qualified to practice law in respect of engaging in legal cases, providing legal advice or setting fees, and other legal activity that only a licensed attorney is authorized to undertake. To do so in the state of New Jersey is regarded as a criminal act, and the in its preamble, the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility of the National Association of Legal Assistants Inc. states that every paralegal or legal assistant is responsible for their strict adherence to the principles of conduct and the accepted standard of legal ethics.
The way that the paralegal/legal assistant perform their duties is strictly governed by canons of ethics such that justice is served and the goals of the profession are attained. The Paralegal Studies Program allows both day and evening study courses, both full time and part time attendance, small classes and personal attention for the student. The college possesses a modern high quality library and facilities for technological development in addition to help with career placement and the opportunity of transfers.
