The Paralegal program is intended to provide individuals with the skills and legal knowledge required for employment as a legal assistant and also as the basis for further legal study. Paralegals are qualified to carry out legal duties under the supervision of an attorney, such as carrying out legal writing and research, drafting documents, collating information needed for litigation, and also supervising staff and law office management. Potential employers are varied, and include law firms, government agencies, and the legal departments of banks, insurance companies and any other type of business that runs a legal department.

This program includes externships

Students must complete 67 credit hours in the program, with courses combining general education, social sciences, legal assisting and also two externships. During these externships, students will be placed for eight hours a week with a law firm or other organization, totaling 128 hours for the semester, during which they will work under the supervision of a lawyer and a program coordinator.
