The individuals that go through the Paralegal Technology curriculum at Fayetteville Technical Community College are prepared to perform legal tasks that are routine under the supervision of an attorney. They are not allowed to give legal advice, practice law or represent clients.
The course work that they can do includes procedural and substantive legal knowledge in the areas of writing, legal research, civil litigation, family law, real estate, trusts, estates, commercial law and wills. Other needed courses include topics such as mathematics, English and utilizing a computer.
This program's graduates learn how to assist attorneys in investigations, probate work, filing legal documents, drafting documents, public records search, office management and research.
