The Paralegal Technology curriculum at Gaston College is teaching students how to work under the direct supervision of an attorney and deal with daily legal tasks and assisting with substantive legal work.

It is very important for you to know that a paralegal (legal assistant) is prohibited from practice law, offer legal advices and represent clients in court.

In courses a student will be thought all there is to know about areas of civil litigation, legal research and writing, real estate, family law, wills estates, trusts, and commercial law. In addition to all this he will also take classes of computer utilization, English and mathematics.

Once the program is completed, the students are certified to help attorneys in investigations, probate work, drafting and filing legal documents, public records search, research, and office management.They can find jobs in private or public law firms, banks, governmental agencies and many other business organizations.

Every Gaston College graduate that received an associate of applied science degree in Paralegal Technology will have a strong background on basic civil, civil injuries, criminal, domestic, and business law concepts while performing legal activities using all the traditional and electronic means available.

He will know how the court system works and he will be fully prepared to help filing legal documents and preparing the documentation needed in court.
