Nowadays, more and more sectors in economy are requesting legal services. They need to employ well trained persons to handle the legal assisting process.
A brief analysis estimated that one paralegal will work simultaneously with three or even four attorneys. In some areas of practice (corporate legal departments included), one paralegal will work with one attorney.
This line of work needs people with well-rounded educational background, critical thinking and great communication skills. All this can be acquired after following courses of English, mathematics, social science, humanities and basic science.
The well-elaborated curriculum of Columbus State Community College will develop a studentís skills in legal research, the preparation of legal documents, ethical requirements, analysis, litigation practice and procedure, real estate transactions, administrative law, family law, criminal law and practice.
A Post Baccalaureate Option is the Legal Assisting Certificate. Every man or woman possessing a bachelor's, master's or Ph.D degree and have worked in a legal environment will be taken into consideration for this program only after they are being interviewed by a department chairperson.
Paralegals are working in legal environments and must handle perfectly both document and client contract preparation.
