Degree/Certificate: Associate of Applied Business degree in Paralegal Studies

Those that go through this program will become paralegal professionals and will work under the supervision of an attorney in the legal field of work. They will also get a more general law education and will do some course work in law office administration, technology and legal research assisted by computers.

The careers that they prepare for include fields like industry, business or corporations that are non-profit. They usually end up working in title companies, law firms, the government, corporations, banks and insurance companies.

Other work done by the paralegals includes drafting of legal documents, organize the work in law offices, research legal memoranda and prepare the attorney billings. They also interview clients, do background checks and do investigations. They can also prepare witnesses for trials and depositions, keep in contact with clients and organize their files. In some cases they also liaison with other law offices, courts, police, businesses or government officials. They can't however take their own cases, set fees or provide clients with legal advice.
