Stautzenberger College

Stautzenberger's curriculum for Associate of Applied Business was especially developed in order to prepare its students to become a good paralegal. They will learn and understand the basic functions of this job and also the professional and ethical responsibilities of the position.

This college offers administrative courses in computer software applications, office procedures, and law office management along with general courses in oral and written communication and social sciences. In addition, the curriculum will comprise courses in legal terminology, legal research and writing, civil litigation, and other areas of law such as probate, criminal and family law.

After completing these courses, the graduates will improve their interpersonal skills, customer focus and writing expertise. When they become paralegals they must be able to conduct researches, analyze legal sources, record judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.

The entire activity will be supervised by an attorney.

The paralegal must know to prepare legal documents such as: pleadings, briefs, contracts, motions, initial and amended articles of incorporation, stock certificates and other securities, deeds, buy-sell agreements, closing papers and binders, wills and trusts instruments. Besides that, this job includes activities like performing factual research, filing documents, maintaining case files, preparing affidavits, inventorying real and personal property for estate planning and interviewing and communicating with clients and witnesses.

If a student decides to become a freelance paralegal, he will help law firms meet deadlines on special projects by providing support on an 'as-needed' basis
