The ABA approved paralegal program at Tacoma Community College was especially developed in order to prepare the graduates to join the legal services assisting an attorney or other legal professional.
Paralegal or legal assistant is a rapidly growing career field and you can find occupation in law firms and also in government offices, corporate enterprises, real estate firms, courts and many other legal organizations including health insurances, public utilities, and banks.
A paralegal must know how to interview and communicate with clients and witnesses, assist in trial preparation, use computer software, tracking and calendaring the deadlines, drafting legal documents, conducting legal investigations, filing documents and handling the factual situations.
Once the program is complete, you can earn an Associate in Applied Sciences Degree or if you already have a AAS or BA degree you may receive a Paralegal Pro Certificate.
The Tacoma's two-year Paralegal Program is teaching you all there is to know before entering the legal world as a specialist and provide services under a lawyer's supervision. After graduation you can work in a law office, legal department, public agency, private investigation firm, court system and paralegal services.
Usually the legal assistants must know to prepare legal documents, conduct investigations, communicate with clients and witnesses, and file legal documents, draft correspondence and help attorneys in litigation and participating in administrative hearings.
Everyone having an Associate in Arts and Sciences or a Bachelor of Arts degree can apply for a Paralegal Preferred Pro-certificate because this will help you enhance your legal career or get a job in the legal field.
In order to get accepted you must have completed an AAS or a BA degree plus 45 credits of: proficiency in typing and computer skills and at least 2.0 GPA) in each of the paralegal courses.
